Waiting to cross to the island, a seagull hovered above the cliffs at Dún Chaoin Pier in the Dingle Peninsula. I had come to make a kind of pilgrimage three decades after something happened to me in the remote corner of Ireland. Watching the bird was like witnessing my own soul gliding again, held aloft by air above the dark rocks below. It's good to keep dreams close and then to buoy them, let them catch the wind and soar. A balm to the spirit.
